Think spinal if they fell or dived from a height, were crushed by machinery or something heavy, or were hurt in a road or sports accident.

Don't move them unless they're in danger. Call 999.

Keep their neck still.If they're awake and alert, encourage them to keep their neck in a comfortable, steady position themselves.

If they're unresponsive and on their back, kneel behind their head and hold their head and neck in line.

Their airway comes first.If you need to open it, use a jaw thrust rather than tilting the head.

If they're face down and you need to open their airway, get others to help you roll them carefully onto their back as one unit.

If they're not breathing, start CPR.
