Ask.People with sickle cell disease usually know when they're having a crisis, and may have a care plan.

Call 999 if someone with sickle cell disease has any of the signs below.

Stay with them and reassure them until help arrives.
Call 999 if they have
- Severe pain, difficulty breathing, or they're being sick
- A high temperature
- An erection that's painful or won't go away
What is a sickle cell crisis?
Sudden, severe pain, or other symptoms such as blurred vision or a high temperature. It can last hours, days or weeks.
